Saturday the 16th of July saw the WA Sporting Car Club run a regularity day for all classes at Wanneroo Raceway. The day started slow due to WASCC not informing the flag marshals they were required …SNAFU! However when the wheels started to turn every body had a ball. The format was a 5 lap practice followed by five 5 lap runs.
For those not sure what regularity is all about this is what happens.
As a part of the entry cost you hire a “Dorian” this is a type of transponder which is fitted to your car, every time you cross the finish line it records your time to a tenth of a second.
So after practice you get a sheet with your lap times on it . from this you nominate a time you reckon you can comfortably replicate .
Then after each of the runs you get a print out showing your time for each lap. Points are deducted for each tenth of a second you above or below your nominated time. Not so easy to do!
Them’s who Loose the least points WINS ! We had 4 clubbie’s Craig , Les , Peter, and Ray who all had a heap of fun.
There is another run on the 13th of august [ to be confirmed i think ] there could also be a run in September.
Then the Vintage Sports Car Club are running there stampede [ regularity ] on December 4th which will be open to our members.
All this is good fun for all classes so you should think about joining in, there are minor things that have to done to your car such as lock wiring sump plugs and tapeing headlights so if you break a lens there is no glass dropped on the track and such like. Driving suits are not required just cloths to the wrist and ankle and of course a helmet.
A coming event in October is the midland sportscar/race car show and shine followed by a parade to Caversham being organised be the VSCC. This for cars built before 1980 and will be a quite a show unlicensed sports and race cars will be allowed to run on public roads, that doesn’t happen very often .
Come and join us !
