York Motor Show 20180826
A group of us headed off to York this morning to exhibit our cars at the York Motor Show. We got a pretty good spot on one of the roads, set up the shelter (thanks to Ian for bringing the Club trailer up!) and settled in to a good day of chatting about cars, walking around looking at cars and wondering why on earth some people collect THOSE cars! (Unfortunately the P76 Club wasn’t attending so I couldn’t sit and sympathise with them).
There were quite a lot of visitors, thanks to the good weather. Lots of interesting cars (many Bolwells, lots of Holdens, assorted Leyland and BMC stuff, some hot rods, an ultralight Jag, a daimler SP250 and a Honda 6 cylinder motorcycle), the “Hand Tool Preservation Society” stand, and no shortage of good conversation. The drive up and back was a bit ordinary. I was down to 30km/h in both directions, due to slow, older cars and the lack of overtaking zones. Also managed to get two big star cracks in the windshield on the way up and a rock to the head on the way back!
The car performed (almost) faultlessly. It currently likes to stall when you come off throttle for an intersection, so I’ll take it back to Tim Slako and get that fixed.
Here is an album of my photos from the day. Enjoy!
