MUNDAKHANA – 2013.

Well Guys it has been run and done!

I think everybody had a good time and with no accidents or incidents I think we can call it a successful day!

A few misty showers didn’t bother us to much but it was a little cold, not that it dampened the enthusiasm.

We had a lot of help from Lyn and Ross Oxwell and Robyn Larkin from the VSCC. A tower of strength came from CAMS Dave Walker and of course V8 drive Days Grant Johnson.

We owe all of these people a great vote of thanks, without them we would have been in deep S….. It has been a very steep learning curve and we are at least off the ground.

Also big thanks to our own members who helped in various ways and made the whole thing work. I have to say “Bradtke” did an enormous job both with the paper work and the running around …great job mate! You can if you wish express your personal thanks  by giving him a big kiss next time you see him………………..!!!

As you can imagine the results were pretty close. New members Paul and Geoff Weir won the day …the timing sheets say Paul won but the numbers may have been mixed up, suffice to say the “Weir” family won.

Apart from first, second and third we had awards for first 4cyl   6cyl and 8cyl vehicles.  But as it happened all the fast cars were 4 cylinder so we awarded the first 4cyl.  To 4th place. The only 6cyl broke a throttle cable and did not start and the only V8 was Grant Johnson.

Grant obviously added a lot of colour and noise which helped make the day but he was a long way from the fastest.

Below are the fastest times for the day which is how we figured who won but bear in mind there were penalty’s applied for cone infringements, wrong way infringements and so on.

  1. Paul Weir …………30.248 .seconds
  2. Peter Mace ………..30.358….
  3. Geoff Duckworth…31.325
  4. Brendan Reid …….31.464
  5. Keith Ellis ………..31.613..
  6. Tim Riley …….…..31.828
  7. Geoff Jagoe ………31.833
  8. Rami Brass …….…32.019
  9. David Glover …….32 .342
  10. Les Wachtel……… .32.358
  11. Grant Johnson ……32.785
  12. Greg O’Brien …..…33.00
  13. Len Kidd …………33.944
  14. Geoff weir …….….34.324
  15. Steve Cardy ………34.717
  16. Craig Bradtke …….35.104
  17. Ken Heeds ………..35.230
  18. Peter Williams……. 35.383
  19. Ron Fabry……..…35.856
  20. Ian Drake …….…..36.053
  21. James Jeff…….…..36.142
  22. Tom Benson ………37.155

Hi Guys,

The SCBC/VSCC Mundikhana is very close …like next Sunday!!!

We have about 30 entries which is heaps for our first venture. Apart from those entered we desperately need about 8 extra people to act in various minor rolls. Rad Dickerson is heading up this list so PLEASE lend us your legs!

The whole thing is relatively low key so things won’t be too busy. Please let me know if you can help out… Robbie Rhoads is on scrutineering and for instance we will need Marshalls to feed the cars in for inspection but once that is done that job finishes.

From an organizational point of view you would think we are running a Grand Prix!

Hope you can help

Charlie.

Hi Guys,

A balmy evening last night perfect for clubbies and a three wheel device! 34 members and visitors and I think about 8 cars.

Most of the evening was spent discussing the Flying Fifty at Northam this week end and our Motorkhana at Mundaring on April 21st

On track at the F/F will be Les Wachtel, Peter Williams, Geoff Jagoe and Craig Bradtke…

Greg Oliver is leading a group of clubbies who are leaving from Midland Gate around 7.30 or 8am heading for Northam .they will form a part of the display area and will get to run around the course as a part of a grand parade .If you’re interested in joining them call Greg on 93610081 or 0420979071 for details.

The “Mundakhana” or Mundaring Motorkhana on the 21st April is joint promo between us and the VSCC. This is progressing well but we are short on entries so please consider joining in the fun. You can enter in most car types and the longest straight part is about 100m so speed won’t be too much of a factor.

If you have any queries on what is happening ring Craig Bradtke on 0408913926.

For those who have ordered shirts and caps, Greg advised that they will be available in a couple of weeks…hopefully before the 21st.

Whiteman park show is on the 28th of April. For those taking their cars there a some passes available at Fibreglass and Resin Sales.

Entry is by gate 7 and I will forward a map separately.

Regards Charlie.

Whilst tidying up the +2000 spam users registered against the site, I stuffed up and have deleted the subscriptions of some real people.

If you are a real person please register again.

To slow the spam users I’ve implemented a few things in the user registration, that if you are human being you should be able to work out easily enough.  Let me know though if you run in to any dramas.

Meeting Report February 2013.

Hi Guys,

Bit late reporting on last Thursdays meeting but we have been away racing !

So for the first meeting of the year it was a doozy! 43 members and friends and 16 clubbies … a record I think.

AND ONE NEW CAR … Congratulations to Cyril Box who fronted with his just licenced car and very nice to .Quite a bit of interest in the bonnet a it is hinged at the front and the whole thing pivots forward . great job !

As you will be aware we received a grant from Bankwest which has gone toward subsidising the club shirts.  Some 70 plus have been ordered with a few being purchased for club stock.

Shirts for country members will be mailed free of charge courtesy of post master Rad Dickerson!  These should be available in 3 or 4 weeks.

Bankwest have all so been able to offer us an attractive investment account so it was decided to move our account from the NAB to bank west.  Moved by Rob Mitchell 2nd Bruce Varcoe.  Carried.

Jacks hill …hill climb is on the 24th of Feb and entries have closed, I am not sure just how many of our members have entered.

Northam 6th and 7th of April.

The 6th is the Mt Omany hill climb in the morning and the car park motokhana in the afternoon.

Sunday is the classic “Around the Houses Classic Northam flying Fifty” and a number of our cars are eligible to enter.  Info on this is available on the VSCC web site.

21st of April is the Mundaring Motokhana run by our club and the VSCC.  We will be mentored through this operation by the folk at the VSCC.  We will need a lot of members to stand tall on this one.  Members can run in this event as well as help out in various positions.  We can all so mount a display of our cars and if we had 16 at the last meeting how many can we get for Mundaring?

We have as you know been encouraging people to log book their cars thru the SCBC Les Wachtel reckons they have a crappy cover so we will look into reprinting these .

Gordon Sadler has been looking into having some seat bases laser cut, once cut they can be folded and welded.  We would need to get tested to make sure they meet the ADR’s.  These could be done in 1.6 steel or 2mm Ali.  We would probably need to test one of each then further units may be able to be covered by the same test……anybody interested?

Ray Burrows has a number of engines to sell, he has promised a list…watch this space

New members are asking just what gear we have available so I will ask the keeper of the vault Barrie to come up with the latest list and I will circulate.

December 2012. Meeting Report.

Hi Guys,
I am a bit behind in reporting on our last meeting……..”Christmas!!”

30 members and visitors attended the last meeting for 2012… Tony Howard rolled up in his new build and very impressive it was ,it had only been registered for 2 days… very distinctive number plates ” MR TONY” Congratulations mate from all of us.

Member Geoff Nicol is contemplating a foray into the kit car scene and outlined his ideas and showed some pics of the project. Geoff asked members for their opinions on the project and thanked the guys for their input.

Keith Ellis has organised a grant from BANK WEST to go toward club tee shirts which was greatly appreciated. Keith and Greg will look into designs and costs and report at the next meeting….. Thanks Keith.

I was unable to attend the Christmas BBQ but from all accounts it was great fun. Rumour has it that there was a green LOTUS with a yella stripe blasting up and down…..

but I am sure that would not be right would it!

Many thanks to Pam and Barrie for their hospitality.

Last Saturday we ran the “fibreglass course ” which went off very well and attached herewith some pics of the day courtesy of Rich Kilmartin.

There will be no meeting in January as usual so i will see you all the first Thursday in February.

Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas.

Charlie
